Illustration 1 g00889418 (1) Lubricate the seals with oil that is being contained before assembly. (2) The rubber toric rings and all contacting surfaces must be clean and dry prior to assembly. The rubber toric rings must not be twisted. The seal rings must be assembled square with the bore. Smear a thin film of oil onto the contacting surfaces of the metal seals just before installation of the hub. (3) 2V-7390 Shim Pack Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, RENR3448, "725 and 730 Articulated Trucks Power Train", "Wheel Bearings and Duo-Cone Seals - Install" for the adjustment of the wheel bearings. (4) Torque the 15 bolts to 185 20 N m (135 15 lb ft) and then turn an additional 60° 10°. Do not reuse the bolts. (5) Torque the 26 bolts to 120 20 N m (90 15 lb ft). Loosen one bolt to a torque of zero. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 120 20 N m (90 15 lb ft) and then turn an additional 120° 10°. Repeat the procedure for all the bolts in a cross-tightening sequence. Do not reuse the bolts. (6) Torque the 8 bolts to 60 12 N m (45 9 lb ft) and then turn an additional 120° 10°. Do not reuse the bolts.
