Clean the 310-5289 Machine Electronic Control Module (4). Ensure that the module is dry. Apply 107-2417 Tape to the 310-5289 Machine Electronic Control Module (4). Mount the module to the FOPS. The outside edge of the module should be adjacent to the longitudinal ROPS structural member. Refer to Illustration 5. Adhere the module in order to allow the connection for the module to hang between the two banks of switches.
Connect the 213-6065 Control Harness As (SECURITY) (5) to the 310-5289 Machine Electronic Control Module (4). Then connect the other end of the 213-6065 Control Harness As (SECURITY) (5) to the 258-4101 Panel Harness As (6).

(7) 258-4001 Panel
Reinstall the side panel (7). Use the new 8Y-5947 Fasteners (3). The harness for the MSS and the harness for the panel should be left hanging.

(8) 6V-3324 Cylinder Lock Assembly
Remove the jam nut that holds the key start switch (8). Disconnect the wiring and remove the switch.

(9) Hole that is 10 mm (0.394 inch) in diameter
Drill a hole that is 10 mm (0.394 inch) in diameter in the recessed location below the key start switch (9).

(10) 205-8257 Coil
Insert the wire for the 205-8257 Coil (10) through the hole (A) that was previously drilled.

Install the locknut that holds the key start switch and 205-8257 Coil (10) in place.

(13) 213-6065 Control Harness As (SECURITY)
(14) 3E-3364 Receptacle
Connect the wiring for the key start switch to the wiring for the panel harness (12).
Install the 3E-3364 Receptacle (14) that is contained in the 102-8802 Receptacle Kit onto the wiring harness for the exciter. Then install the 3E-3365 Receptacle Lock Wedge.
Connect the receptacle for the exciter coil (14) to the 213-6065 Control Harness As (SECURITY) (13).

Install the 225-5927 Film (15) and 205-0826 Film (16) in the locations that are shown in Illustration 12.
Install the key into the key start switch of the machine. Position the symbols that are located on the film so that the symbols line up properly with the key. Install the 198-5389 Film (17) onto the coil.
Reinstall the six screws that attach the front panel to the back.Note: Ensure that the MSS and the panel harnesses are routed through the opening between the front and back panels.
Install the four mounting screws that attach the panels to the header plate.
Install the left front work light and connect the wiring.
By using Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET), in the machine control ECM, change the configuration for "Advanced Machine Security System" to installed. A factory password will be required. The system may be enabled without Cat ET or factory passwords under the "User Management" sub menu by dealer or machine owner.
