Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the left side panel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Side Panel - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Drain the water separator. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Water Separator - Drain".

Note: The fuel priming pump and primary filter/water separator (1) is located on the left side of the frame rail.
Disconnect harness assembly (4) .
Disconnect hose (2). Repeat this step for the opposite side of fuel priming pump and primary filter/water separator (1) .
Remove bolts (3) and remove the fuel priming pump and primary filter/water separator (1) .Installation Procedure

Position the fuel priming pump and primary filter/water separator (1). Install bolts (3) .
Connect hose (2). Repeat this step for the opposite side of fuel priming pump and primary filter/water separator (1) .
Connect harness assembly (4) .End By: Install the left side panel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Side Panel - Remove and Install".
