Machine General Information
The tamper system assists with the initial compaction of the mat during paving operations. The tamper system is electronically controlled. A variable-displacement pump on the tractor provides the hydraulic oil flow to operate the tamper motors on the screed. When the tamper system is in operation, the tamper motors rotate eccentric cams. The cams operate tamper bars at the leading edge of the screed plates. The speed of the motors determines the tamper frequency. A programmable time delay allows the machine to begin moving before the tamper system starts.Note: The machine electronic control system logic prevents the tamper system from operating while the propulsion mode is set to TRAVEL.Note: These machines are configured with one of two different engines. One engine meets US EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage IV emission standards. The second engine meets US EPA Tier 3, EU Stage IIIA, and China Stage II emissions standards.
