Each port in the pump housing is identified by a numeric or an alpha-numeric designation which is cast into the housing next to the port. The function of each port is as follows:
Port "A" (8) is a system port. Port "A" is connected to port "B1" of the vibratory and brake control valve. Oil flows out port "A" when vibratory solenoid "C1" (13) is energized.
Port "AM3" (12) is a charge pressure port. This port is plugged.
Port "B" (7) is a system port. Port "B" is connected to port "A1" of the vibratory and brake control valve. Oil flows out port "B" when vibratory solenoid "C2" (3) is energized.
Port "E" (10) is the charge inlet port. Filtered charge oil is directed into port "E".
Port "L2" (21) is a case drain port. This port is plugged.
Port "L4" (5) is a case drain port. Case drain oil is directed out this port to the return manifold.
Port "MA" (9) is a gauge port for the pressure at port "A". Port "MA" is plugged. System pressure can be measured on the vibratory and brake control valve.
Port "MB" (2) is a gauge port for the pressure at port "B". Port "MB" is plugged. System pressure can be measured on the vibratory and brake control valve.
Port "M3" (17) is a charge pressure port. This port is plugged
Port "M4" (6) is pressurized when the supply oil is directed out port "A" of the pump. This port is plugged.
Port "M5" (16) is pressurized when the supply oil is directed out port "B" of the pump. This port is plugged.
Port "M14" (15) is a case drain port. This port is plugged. The direction control valve is equipped with two EDCs. The EDCs are proportional solenoids. Solenoid "C1" (13) controls flow out port "A" of the pump. Solenoid "C2" (4) controls flow out port "B" of the pump. The pump housing is equipped with charge relief valve (19). This valve is mechanically adjustable. The charge relief valve maintains charge pressure at 3000 300 kPa (435 43 psi). The pump is equipped with two pressure limiter valves (3) and (11). The pressure limiter valves destroke the pump when the pressure reaches the setting of the valve. The pressure limiter valves are set to open when the pressure differential between the high-pressure loop and case drain pressure reaches 38 000 2000 kPa (5510 290 psi). The pressure limiter valve is a slow-acting valve. The pump housing is equipped with two makeup and relief valves (18) and (20). The relief section of the valves limits the pressure in the circuit to 42 000 2000 (6164 290 psi). These relief valves are fast acting. The makeup section of the valves allows charge oil to flow into the low-pressure circuit in order to replenish the oil lost to flushing and internal leakage. The pump is equipped with hydraulic zero adjustment screw (14). This adjustment screw is used to adjust the hydraulic zero setting of the rotating group. This adjustment aligns the
