Remove the cap from S O S tap (12) in the base of hydraulic oil filter (11). Obtain an oil sample with Tool (A).
Shut off the engine. Either place machine power switch (5) in the OFF position or press and hold push to start switch (1) for 3 seconds. An LED next to the push to start switch will flash when the engine is in shutdown mode. Note: The engine may run for several minutes when placed in the shutdown mode.
If the engine was shut down using the push to start switch (1), move the machine power switch (5) to the OFF position.
Remove hydraulic oil filter (11). Check the hydraulic element for foreign materials.
Bronze-colored particles give an indication of pump failure or motor port plate failure.
Shiny steel particles give an indication of pump failure or motor piston failure.
Rubber particles indicate a seal failure or a hose failure.
Aluminum particles give an indication of a pump or motor failure. Check the following components: a material feed charge pump, a fan drive motor, a ventilation fan motor and a tamper drive motor. Note: If any of these particles are found in the filter element, all components of the hydraulic oil system must be cleaned. Do not use any damaged parts. Any damaged parts must be removed and new parts must be installed.
Replace hydraulic filter (11).
