Measure - Adjust
1. Inspect the condition and adjustment of the belts. If the belts are damaged, cracked or frayed, replace them in sets. 2. Measure the deflection of the belts. Apply approximately 110 N (25 lb.) force midway between the pulleys.Deflection should be 14 to 20 mm (9/16 to 13/16 inch). If deflection is not correct, loosen the alternator mounting bolts and adjust the belt.Look at the condition of the belt. Replace if cracked or frayed.Cooling System
Add Conditioner
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Remove the fill cap only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
