Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Flash Program Transmission ECM
Perform the following procedure in order to flash program the Transmission ECM. The Transmission ECM is flashed in order to upgrade the software. The new software will allow the Transmission ECM to communicate with the AccuGrade Laser system. The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) contains the program WinFlash. WinFlash is used in order to load software into the Transmission ECM. The following procedure is used in order to FLASH software into the Transmission ECM.
Procedure
Connect the 7X-1425 Data Link Cable between the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter and the Electronic Technician.
Connect the 139-4166 Data Link Cable between the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter and the diagnostic connector of the machine.
Use WinFlash in order to load the software. Refer to Table 2 for the part number of the software.

Perform the following procedure in order to flash program the system components. The system components are flashed in order to upgrade the software. The new software will allow the system components to communicate with the ECM and each other. The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) contains the program WinFlash. WinFlash is used in order to load software into the system components. The following procedure is used in order to FLASH software into the system components.
Do not stop the process. The ECM will be damaged and need to be replaced.
Procedure
Connect the 7X-1425 Data Link Cable between the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter and the Electronic Technician.
Connect the 139-4166 Data Link Cable between the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter and the diagnostic connector of the machine.
Use WinFlash in order to load the software. Refer to Table 2 for the part number of the software.Note: In order for CAT ET to communicate with the ECMs, you need to select "File" and "Switch Data Link".
