(8) Spring Oil from the hydraulic oil tank flows to the hoist and brake gear pump. The brake section of the pump sends oil to parking brake release oil filter (1).Oil flows through inlet passage (3). The oil fills the space between the inside of housings (6) and elements (5). During normal operation, the oil flows through elements (5) and out outlet passage (4) to the remainder of the hydraulic system. Elements (5) stop any debris that is in the oil.If filter elements (5) become full of debris, the restriction to the flow of oil causes a pressure increase inside the filter. The pressure oil causes bypass valve (7) to move against the force of spring (8).The oil then flows past the open bypass valve and to the remainder of the hydraulic system. When the oil does not flow through the filter element, the debris in the oil will cause damage to other components in the hydraulic system.Use correct maintenance in order to make sure that elements (5) do not become full of debris. If elements (5) are full of debris, the flow of clean oil to the hydraulic system is stopped.
