(5) Filter element The externally mounted oil filter has a bypass valve that is equipped with pressure switch (2). If there is a restriction in the oil filter or if the viscosity of the oil is very high, the bypass valve in bypass valve housing (1) will open.If the inlet pressure to the oil filter is greater than the outlet pressure by a specified amount, the bypass valve will open.Reference: See the Power Train Specifications, "Oil Filter (Power Train)" for more information.When the oil does not go through filter element (5), the debris in the oil can cause damage to other components in the power train system.Correct maintenance procedures must be followed in order to make sure that the element does not become full of debris. Debris could stop the flow of clean oil to the power train system. The filter is mounted to the transmission on the right, rear side of the machine.
