1. Drain coolant from the radiator below the level of the radiator supply tube. 2. Close the fuel tank shutoff valve (3) and disconnect hose assembly (2).3. Disconnect the ether starting aid tube assembly at fitting (1). 4. Disconnect plugs (4) from the ether starting aid group and remove the four clips that fasten the wiring harnesses (7) to the fuel tank.5. Disconnect lubrication line (8) from the fan drive. Remove two bolts (5) that fasten plate (6) to the fuel tank. 6. Disconnect hose assembly (9) from the fuel tank. 7. Loosen clamps (10) and (12) on each end of tube and remove bolt from clip. Remove tube (11). 8. Remove two bolts (15) from fuel tank and loosen mounting bolt on radiator.9. If equipped, remove air conditioner dryer (13) and wiring harness (14) from the fuel tank. 10. Remove bolt and clip (17) that fastens the alternator harness to the fuel tank. Remove bolts (16) that fasten the fuel tank to plates on each side of tank. Remove bolt (18) from each side of fuel tank. 11. Install tooling (A) and remove fuel tank (19) from vehicle. The weight of an empty fuel tank is 540 lb. (245 kg).Install Fuel Tank
1. Install tooling (A) and hoist to the fuel tank. Put the fuel tank (1) in position and install bolts to fasten plates to fuel tank. 2. Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 96 5 lb.ft. (130 7 N m). Install bolt on each side to fasten the fuel tank to frame. Fasten alternator harness (3) to fuel tank. 3. Put brace in position and install two bolts (4) that fasten it to the fuel tank. Tighten the radiator to brace bolt.4. If equipped, install air conditioner dryer (3) and connect wiring harness (5). 5. Install hose assembly (6) on fuel tank. 6. Put tube (7) in position in hoses and tighten hose clamps. Install clip on tube in position on the fuel tank. 7. Install two bolts (9) to fasten plate (10) on fuel tank.8. With the wiring harnesses (11) in position, install clips to harnesses in place.9. Connect plugs (8) to the ether starting aid group. Connect lubrication wire (12) to the fan drive. 10. Install fuel hose assembly (14) from the fuel filter to the fuel tank shutoff valve (15). Turn valve to the "OPEN" position.11. Connect the ether starting aid tube assembly at fitting (13).12. Fill the radiator to the correct coolant level.
